Home of the Scottish Castle Hawks Creek Golf Club opened in September of 2002 to great reviews. In 2005, The Dallas Morning News listed Hawks Creek as #6 in the state of Texas for mid-priced golf courses ($46-$70). In February of 2006, we climbed to the #5 spot. It has also been featured in Texas Golfer Magazine, one of the largest golf publications in Texas. The informative centerfold article can be found in the December 2003 issue of Texas Golfer Magazine.
Hawks Creek designer John Colligan, has gained a fine reputation for designing golf courses that are fun for the average golfer, yet challenging for the more skilled golfer. The new golf course is located just 5 miles west of downtown Fort Worth and site on a portion of the land that was occupied by the former Carswell Golf Course. The course features large Bent Grass greens that are some of the smoothest and fastest around, most of the time rolling at speeds of over 10.5 on the Stimpmeter. The traditional style layout is defined by mature trees, natural water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. Hawks Creek provides four sets of tees for all levels of golfers, and although the course isn't long in length by today's standards, the par 72 course has a challenging course rating of 73.5 and a slope index of 138 from the championship tees.
One of Hawks Creek's attractions is its extensive practice area. The large two tiered range area is plush with 419 Bermuda grass in the summer and over seeded with winter grass for cooler months. Complimenting the range is a comprehensive short game area that features a regulation size green and is surrounded by two sand bunkers and a grass bunker. The short game area is highlighted by its own tee box that extends to almost 100 yards. Hawks Creek also possesses an expansive putting green for use as its practice putting area. The multi-tiered, undulating putting green has almost every putt you would find on the course.
Hawks Creek is open to the public and is owned by the City of Westworth Village. Located only minutes from downtown Fort Worth, we look forward to seeing golfers of all levels enjoy our new course.
